Pastoral
Ministry & Parish Outreach
INTRODUCTION
The rivers of Pastoral Ministry and
Parish Outreach flow in many different directions at St. Albert the Great. Here,
one finds parishioners' hands extended in friendship, service, and justice to
any and all who may be in need of help --- both parishioners and
non-parishioners.
The following list of pastoral ministries is not exhaustive, but it
provides a good indication of the varied directions our programs take.

Home Cooked Meals

This group is responsible for preparing home-cooked meals for
parishioners who are in need because of illness, the birth of a baby, or other
family emergency. If cooking is not for you, but you would like to help deliver
meals, we
can use your help also. If interested, please contact Mary Ann Zimmerman at 825-2988.

Luke House
Luke House is about sharing, hospitality, and community
building. Every fourth Tuesday of the month, members of St. Albert's provide and
serve a meal to the needy at Luke House,
310 South Ingersoll, Madison. The meal
consists of chopped
turkey and gravy over baking powder biscuits, peas and carrots, applesauce,
milk, bread, and cupcakes. If you are interested in providing one of the meal
items, simply sign up on the bulletin board in the Narthex (near the stairs).
We share what we have so others can eat. We offer hospitality when
we serve the family-style meal. We build community by sitting at table and
eating with the Luke House guests. Time commitment is from 5:00 pm to
approximately 7 pm. The parish contact person is Micky Wherley at 837-2032.

Sun Prairie Emergency Food Pantry & The Red Barn
These two important ministries
reach out to the truly needy in the community. The parish takes up
a food collection on the fourth weekend of every month and donates funds
each year from its outreach funding. If you have any questions in
regard to these ministries, please contact Dalene Thompson at the parish
on Thursdays or Fridays at 837-3798

Twinning Program

The Twinning Committee is involved in a variety of activities
to raise money for support of the needy in the Caribbean. Meetings are held on
the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm at St. Albert's. New members add a
fresh perspective and excitement to the Twinning mission and are always welcome.
Money raised by the Twinning Committee continues to support the
poor in Cap Haitien, Haiti, by helping with the Fort Michel Community Center.
This center will provide Cap Haitien families with a basic medical clinic, an
elementary school, training for young mothers and a wide-ranging curriculum that
will educate young people on vital social issues including proper hygiene
habits, how to protect themselves against diseases, and how to respect and care
for their environment. Fort St. Michel is a shantytown located on the
southeast edge of Cap Haitien. It has a population of 22, 000. Most residents
are young people who have never
finished elementary school and have no job skills. These conditions have created
a growing
number
of young mothers, babies being raised in the streets, and an increase in
sexually transmitted diseases.
St. Albert's parish is also helping in Jamaica with Our Lady of
Hope Orphanage of the Mandeville Diocese. Please consider joining the
Twinning Committee. If you have questions or would like to become more involved
call Barb Justl at 837-7767.
"If one
member suffers, all members suffer,
and if one is honored, all members rejoice.”1 Corinthian 12:26
