YOUTH MINISTRY
INTRODUCTION

At St. Alberts, we believe that youth ministry is a vital part
of Parish life. Our
staff is committed to helping families respond to the needs of young people. In
return, our parish is open to receive the many gifts that young people continue
to
bless us with. We have a full-time Youth Minister on our staff, as well as a
part-
time Coordinator of Youth Activities.
Our goals can be found in the latest Church document titled "Renewing The
Vision: A Framework For Catholic Youth Ministry." They are as follows:
.....empower young people to be disciples of Jesus in our world today,
.....draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and
work of the Catholic faith community, and
.....foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.
OUR
VISION
We believe that Pope John Paul II had a vision for young people that
can
inspire and encourage us:
"This is what is needed: a Church for young people,
which will
know how to speak to their hearts and enkindle,
comfort, and
inspire enthusiasm in it with the joy of the Gospel and
the strength
of the Eucharist; a Church which will know how to
invite and to
welcome the person who seeks a purpose for which to
commit
his or her whole existence; a Church which is not
afraid to require
much, after having given much; which does not fear
asking from
young people the effort of a noble and authentic
adventure,
such as that of following the Gospel"
---Pope John Paul II
CATECHETICAL MINISTRY
Our Faith Formation program is flexible and family friendly.
Middle School (grades 6-8) and their parents attend a once-a-month

intergenerational gathering to experience a topic that challenges and encourages
them to learn more about their Catholic faith.
New this year! Our ninth graders are beginning a
two-year Confirmation preparation. They meet in small groups with
catechists. Our 10th and 11th grade youth participate in a Confirmation
Preparation program with small group leaders and sponsors.
There are plenty of opportunities for youth to learn more about
their faith at St.
Alberts.
One of the best sources of information is in the pages of
the Youth Ministry
Handbook.
